Alok Mohan, Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order), said on Monday that the police would take more intensified action not in favor of sand mafia in Udupi district.

Addressing presspersons after holding a evaluation meeting of police officers at the District Police Office here, Mr. Mohan said that the police had taken a serious note of the physical attack and attempt to murder Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant Commissioner Shilpa Nag and Village Accountant Kantharaj, when they conducted a raid on a sand removal site at Kandlur near Kundapur.

The police had arrested seven people in this link. As soon as Superintendent of Police K.T. Balakrishna received the details about the occurrence, he dispatched a team of policemen to the area.

To a query, he said that though Ms. Francis could have taken the police with her, she decided to do a spot visit herself as a good Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate would.

Normally people in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts appreciated officials. Hence, there were no issues in Halnadu village, where Ms. Francis had raided a sand extraction site. But it was in Kandlur that the incident of attempt of murder took place. The police had taken this matter critically, he said.

As regards other policing measures, it had been decided to improve the beat system by making the head constables and police constables in charge of designated areas in the district.

Hence, the number of beats in any police station would be equal to the number of head and police constables it had. This would help the constables develop close relation with the people and improve community policing.

Henceforth, the police would book those concerned in gambling and illegal sand extraction under the Goonda Act.

Drop boxes would be kept in schools and colleges so that students could lodge their complaints without writing their names.

Police officers had been instructed to go to schools and colleges and interact with students so that they kept away from drugs, Mr. Mohan said.

Mr. Balakrishna (Superintendent of Police) and N. Vishnuvardhana, Additional Superintendent of Police, were present.

“The attack previously on the (DC) and the (AC) throughout raid on illegal sand mining was a very severe issue. This situation shouldn’t have occurred in an educated district like Udupi,” said (ADGP) Alok Mohan.
He was responding to a subject on the attack on deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis and assistant commissioner Shilpa Nag during the raid on illegal sand mining units in service in Kundapur taluk, in a press meet on Monday, April 3.
“The DC was believed to inform task force committee members like SP, RTO, tahsildar, ZP CEO and much more. As the DC and AC tried to do it on their own, the violent crowd attacked them. The accused will be punished,” he added.
To a problem on political power or force on police in the case, ADGP Mohan said, “We are government officials, but the law does not distinguish on caste, society or political affairs.”
DC Priyanka Mary Francis said, “We have learned a lesson. Next time we will go with all defensive measures. A gathering of the task force committee members has been called and we will take sturdy action. We feared that the information concerning the raid would be leaked through other task force members. If we had taken preventive measures, we would have been better ready to face the state of affairs.
“Any task force associate can register a grievance willingly against illegal activities without informing any other member. Action will be taken soon after the misdemeanor,” she added.
Superintendent of police of Udupi district K T Balakrishna said, “We are managing the case effectively. Seven have been under arrest and there are six people more who were concerned in the act, according to DC.”

Getting organized pays us handsome rewards.

We must avoid drowning in a sea of official procedure & increase our output with efficient systems & focus on information flow. Disorganization costs time, money, disturbance and perhaps our health too. What we need is the inspiration to modify the accessible tools and methods.  Getting organized pays us handsome rewards. As we are aware that a messy and a chaotic desk always contributes to loss of control, lack of focus, incomplete work, lost information and missed deadlines. The only cure to get out from such situations is that we should

“Be wise & organize” and the fact of organizing is we need to file it, action it, calendar it and last but not the least trim it.

To find a place for all your credentials is one thing but in reality find them, literally in seconds, when you need them is more vital. As an individual you must have a “System”, a  time-tested filing system and you see you become  Paper Tiger and become an invaluable part of the association, where  you are serving.

Any Community in quest of success at organization level must have a lucid vision. It is not essential for each individual to be a visionary leader and make a difference in a community. All what is necessary is that each individual should have a wish to focus his energy to achieve success, while the visionary leaders may recognize visioning efforts of each individuals and design suitable visioning procedure and formulate Vision statement and common values so as to achieve community Goals.

Having Positive attitude,  is a stepping stone towards Success. Success angel bless those people, who have  positive attitude and hand over an priceless contribution called “ACHIEVEMENT”.
